Painted Pine Blanket Box

This blanket box is made of furniture-grade white pine. As best I can determine, this term is synonymous with overpriced and of rather bad quality but by the time I bought it, it was too late to back out. This item was made with the wood left over from another project that was done as a gift for a friend and itself served no other purpose than practice.

The box is joined at all corners with through-dovetail joints although the covering of barn red milk paint obscures them. The interior was given a thin wash of federal blue milk paint and a coating of clear shellac. The lid was has two simple screwed-on oak battens to stiffen and stabilize it. Overall size in inches: 37X17X26.
