Is it poison? Is it magic? The Amanita muscaria (fly agaric) has a mixed reputation but I won't go into that here. What attracted me was the beautiful color and form of this young specimen of a very common Alaskan mushroom. My yard was always full of them.
September 8th of 2001. While on a morning hike along the Norris Lake Bluff Trail I came across these fishermen in the mist along the Clinch River below Norris Dam. With the Canon digital camera, I can at least be sure of the exact date and time which is far more than I can say about my old pictures where guessing the proper decade is sometimes difficult.
Another of those unknowns. I know that is was shot in the spring of 1980 somewhere near Anchorage but that it about it. If I were willing to guess then I might guess that this is Turnagain Arm south of town but I sure wouldn't bet on it. Scanned from a slide.
Carp pennnants or Koi-nobori (koi means carp) shot with Canon SLR (FT or F1), on Okinawa in 1972 during the Kodomo no Hi (children's day) holiday. This is a scan from the original Ektachrome slide.
This picture was published in the May 2003 issue of Koi Ponds&Gardens in the UK! I'm flattered.
