This was shot on a hike in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park which started out going up the easy Laurel Falls trail and then graduated to the more strenuous Cove Mountain trail on a very hot, humid, and buggy day. The falls is usually better than this but this was shot in the middle of a very dry period. Canon G1 image.
I shot this picture of one of the twenty-one California Missions in 1974. With the kind assistance of Sasha Honig of California Mission Studies Association this has been definitively identified as Mission San Miguel Arcangel, just north of Paso Robles. My recollections of the mission are very vague but looking at the mission's website did bring back a few feeble memories.
If you've ever been around cats then you should know this look well. It doesn't matter what sort or size of cat it is, they all look like this right before starting the eigth nap of the day. I'd like to feed you a story about this being taken on a trek across Africa but it was actually taken during 1969 at a short-lived wild animal park in Pennslyvania from inside a 1953 GMC pickup rather than a Landrover.
This is a one portion of a large memorial to WWII dead located near the northern tip of the Island of Okinawa.
