Bubinga Lace-Edged Bowl

This bowl was turned not too long after I watched a long demonstration by Clead Christiansen where he made a similar piece. This my first exposure to power carving on a turned object. In this case the carving was used to make the top edge of the bowl into a lacy structure with holes and a highly-textured surface. Finish is with oil and then wax. This piece won a first-in-class award in the juried crafts show at the 1997 Fur Rendezvous show in Alaska. Overall size in inches: 9½ Diameter X 3¾ High
